my last journal update was to announce my comms would be closed until further notice and that i was applying to study at university. WELL. comms are still closed lol sorry, but i have started up the old art machine again as im feeling fairly creative and good about things. ill try to keep this up :> if you want to follow my new insta acc for art then here is that: X



as for the university application.... I got in!! i was apprehensive since its a big change to what i did at college (art & design) but my application was accepted very recently so i get to choose which course i'll be diving into for the next....5 years ahaaaa. I'm going to study biological sciences, particularly oriented towards the natural world and im very excited! this is something i can really see myself doing for a long time as work, it's going to be tough but im confident i can get through it >:3c one day i will be mad scientist inki, lab coat on, dick out, analysing DNA in da lab. my dream is to contribute to stabilising the global climate and seeing what we can do to preserve vital ecosystems (particularly the coral reefs bc damn we cant lose em), but we'll see where the course takes me since im choosing the broad option so i can narrow down my career paths with experience :>

so yea i start in september, the pressure of making art to live has mostly gone & i got a new job at a different coffee shop where my boss doesnt belittle me for things about myself that i cant control or change 8D life's okay!

its been a while. i kinda dropped off the planet i guess. i dont really know what to write i just feel i should post some sort of update on my account, idk how many active followers i have anymore but still! theres a few out there :>

i faced a pretty rough burnout with my art again (happens around the same time each year & i often get from flare ups to fullblown depressive episodes questioning why im doing this) and ive finally come to accept the idea of doing something else as a career than continuing to pursue art. i want to be able to enjoy art as a hobby, i have proven this to myself each time i open commissions and realise that i really don't want to do it. I dont mind the odd commission dont get me wrong, i love drawing your characters, but i can tell that when it gets to the point of steady workload, i cant handle it. add that to my general lack of desire working in an art studio, on a time limit, or even in my own house 24/7 as a freelance artist.  nor do i want to go back into education (university) to get the art degree i would need, since my last experience with art courses has ... really affected me and changed the way i think about art in general. speaking of *university* tho....im going to enroll for next year, hopefully i get in! i still have a bunch of stuff to fill in ofc, but i got like 5 months to think about it. ill probs post what the course is once i get in, dont wanna be hasty :')

so yeah tl;dr im taking a different direction future career-wise and will be keeping art as a hobby.

this does also mean i wont be having commissions open again for the foreseeable future, i may open in a bad emergency but tbh ive been taking on more hours at work to try and cover that. more working hours is also why im just kinda, not around anymore. its tiring, im tired. but im doing ok and am actively trying to nurture roots to make something good of my life :> i have little time or motivation to draw for myself, but i still want to when i find the energy.

Rethunking my commissions, not the prices or the pieces, but the wait lists.
From now on I will working with slots, I'll have commissions open for half the month, or until they are full I'm not sure as of yet. The goal is simply to not feel so overwhelmed and make it easier for myself to keep track. Working long hours and having shifts pop up is draining and causes delays since it gives me less time to work on them, so at least if I have a set number to complete, it makes it easier to manage them.

So, since it's the end of the month, this is the perfect time to start this! 

I will give myself the time-frame of the whole month to get the commissions done, so they don't run over. Those who are still waiting are of course, top of this list and priority
